Most Dangerous Chemicals Found in Sports Creams
We all think of over-the-counter-sports creams as safe to use. They can be easily picked up at the local drugstore and because they are topically applied, they are often applied excessively to areas of injury and pain.
But, did you know that one of the common MAIN INGREDIENTS in sports creams can be hazardous and even fatal if used liberally enough to cause an overdose?...

Gym Bag Hacks
Ever feel like you haul around the contents of your bathroom sink in your gym bag? Yeah, me too (see my prior post about shoulder pain caused by gigantic gym and work bags). So, I started over. Like dumped out my entire gym back contents and only added in the essentials - which ended up being 5 things. Here is my easy cheat sheet of what you should always have stashed in your gym bag. It'll save you during those rough early mornings when you only have a minute to pull it together.

2018 - Year of the Dog
Happy Chinese New Year! To celebrate my recent birthday and upcoming Chinese New Year, I had my BaZi read by the amazing Feng Shui Master Jen Stone. Let me tell you, it was not what I expected - forget everything you think you know about 'feng shui' - a BaZi reading with Jen is the real deal and is rooted in classical Chinese philosophy and cosmology. Jen is so wonderful and really helped me understand my 'blueprint' for my life as well as this upcoming year. Jen graciously agreed to be this week's guest blogger, and share her insights on Chinese New Year and what this upcoming Year of the Dog has in store for you!

Whats The Story, Morning Glory?
My regular coffee shop stocks the most amazing muffins - gluten free, not overly sweet, and full of fruit and other goodies. Except last week, the barista told me they had switched bakeries and my favorite muffins were no longer available. Aw, bummer! I was really disappointed until I realized this was the perfect excuse to come up with my own version. Here I share my version of my favorite gluten-free muffins with you. Packed with antioxidant-boosting superfoods, these Morning Glory muffins make the perfect breakfast (or afternoon snack).

Wipe It Up
I don’t want to tote around a gym bag full of soaps, creams, and lotions (see my prior post about shoulder pain). I try to make everything effective as possible, meaning products have to pull double- or triple- duty in order to earn a spot in my toiletry bag. This is why face wipes are my post-workout skin saver - I can use them as a cleanser and toner all in one. Plus face wipes are great to have along in your desk drawer for a mid-day refresh, and they also work wonders on camping or car trips when access to a bathroom is limited. Because I am always on the lookout for ways to detox my beauty routine, I of course, had to figure out a way to make my own face wipes without all of the preservatives and chemicals found in commercially available products. Here I share with you my recipe for toxin-free face wipes that you can customize to your own skincare needs.

Shampoo Detox
For many of us, our ears perk up at the word 'detox' - we envision clean diets, yoga sessions, and vegetables. All of these things have a detoxing effect in their own right, but have you ever thought about detoxing your beauty routine? The good news is you can make easy chemical-free swaps for your most-used beauty products, such as this recipe for healthy dry shampoo...

Butternut Squash Pancakes
It's cold and flu season! That means doubling up on your nutrients in order to boost your immune system. The humble butternut squash is basically nature's multi-vitamin: it contains powerful antioxidants Vitamin A and C - in fact, one serving of butternut squash provides over half your daily recommended dose of Vitamin C. Butternut squash contains more potassium than a banana; and also provides Vitamin B, manganese, magnesium, folate, zinc, and calcium! This sounds really great - but how do you prepare squash in a tasty way that harnesses the power of these nutrients? Enter the squash pancake - it's simple, can be made from leftover roasted squash, makes a quick breakfast, and is versatile enough to be made savory or sweet. Plus this recipe adapts easily to gluten-free needs. These pancakes are just as delicious as they are nutritious. Topped with a spoon of homemade coconut yogurt, squash pancakes are something you'll make again and again. Save this recipe!

Simple Coconut Yogurt
If you know me, then we've probably had a conversation (or several) about diet and nutrition. This also means you've heard me advocate consuming less dairy and looking for other options to include in your diet. This simple coconut milk yogurt fits the bill perfectly - it's dairy free, paleo, sugar-free and it's made from two ingredients. The final product has a tangy greek-yogurt-like taste that goes well with sweet or savory dishes: top the yogurt with fresh fruit, or use a spoonful on top of pancakes or latkes.
